In April of 2009 I retired after more than 30 years as a forest science professor and administrator at Oregon State University in Corvallis. My specialty in forest genetics provided lots of opportunity to exercise the left side of my brain; now it is time to give the right side its due! I have had a long interest in photography which has become a serious hobby and part-time business in recent years with the availability of digital capture and processing of photos. Oregon is a wonderful place to live and practice the art of photography given its tremendous range of climate and landscape, from the foggy, wind-swept coastline, to the evergreen forests of the Coast and Cascade Mountains, to the dry grasslands and deserts of eastern Oregon. Photography provides for continuous challenge with the opportunity to improve both technically and artistically (ability to "see" with new perspective) with every outing. What a marvelous way to combine a love for nature and the outdoors with an outlet for artistic expression. Tom Adams Emeritus Professor and Photographer
